After a little baby break, the studio is back!
I honestly thought I'd have so much time. That I'd be able to put into practice all the blog posts I wanted to write, the moodboards I wanted to create, write to the people I want to contact, make the site updates that have been on my to-do list for a year (seriously...). And although everyone whose had a baby told me how hard it was, how little time I'd have and how much my life would change, I didn't believe them. I thought I'd be the exception to the rule... that I'd conquer being a mum within 3 days and be back creating in no time.
Oh God how I was wrong.
Parents, I hear your laughter.
The first 6 weeks were a blur of night time sleep shifts, tears (all of our tears) and frantic internet searching on how the hell you get a baby to sleep. And, to be honest, the next 6 weeks were just as hard, although we were all slowly starting to find our feet. Now, at week 13, I still spend much time searching on how to get a baby to sleep in longer segments (a battle we are truly winning) and the rest of my time wondering where I put my keys/wallet/the sandwich I was just holding, but I have also managed to get back on my mac and actually create some design work. And for that, I am so thankful.
Having Séraphine (oh yes – the blog post I was going to write to introduce our new addition... obviously didn't happen, so: Our little girl, Séraphine Marie Davey was born on 30th October, a petite but perfect 5lb 15oz...) has been an incredible learning curve, one that has shown up every single strength and weakness I have. I have learnt that I lose the plot when there is a challenge I can't immediately conquer but within this my strength of 'not being able to do it YET' lies, there is no challenge that I won't keep working on until it's met. She has also taught me I am far stronger and more capable than I ever thought, the times I have wanted to give up in the past are no where near my breaking point, it can hurt like hell, you'll probably shed some tears, you may be up at 3am for the foreseeable future, but it is so worth it. The incredible feeling of waking up to your little one's smile, or receiving the final beautiful designs back from the printer, are second to none and completely addictive.
With thanks to all Studio 1850's incredible clients for your kindness in allowing us to take this little break and I am so pleased to say the studio's back, stronger than ever and so happy to be back with you all again!
